Phone Calls
Our Triage Person is available Monday — Friday to answer baby care questions, medication questions or to help you decide if your child needs to be seen. If you wish to speak to the doctors, non-emergency calls are answered at the end of the afternoon and, as time permits, between appointments. For a complicated problem, please schedule an appointment. When calling about a sick child, always have a pencil and the number of your pharmacy ready. As we have limited staff on Saturday, please hold all routine calls until the weekdays.

Medication Refills
In general, please have your pharmacy call our office for medication refills. When calling, please specify dose, time given, and quantity desired. Please allow 1—2 days for processing.

Payments
Our office policy is to collect payment in full for services at time of the visit, including all copays due. We are pleased to accept cash, check, MasterCard or VISA for your convenience. If you need to arrange a payment plan, please contact our billing department.

Fees
Charges for professional visits, procedures, medications, and lab tests are determined based on the time spent, the cost of supplies and the complexity of the problem. Scheduled consultations or well visits cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged to you; missed appointment charges are not covered by insurance plans.

Insurance
Claims will be submitted to all insurance companies we are contracted with.

Emergencies
LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY — Call 911 for Paramedics

We recommend that all parents learn CPR and keep emergency numbers handy. Other true emergencies — go to your nearest emergency room. Ask the ER staff to contact our office on arrival.

Poisonings
Call the Poison Control Center first: 1-800-222-1222. Then call our office.

After Hours
For urgent problems that can’t wait until the next day (no medication refills or routine questions, please!), call the office number and the answering service will contact the nurse or doctor-on-call. When you call, describe the problem and indicate whether you need your call returned immediately or whether it can wait an hour.

At Scottsdale Children’s Group, we take great pride in our excellent services and team of staff and providers. We currently have a nurse practitioner to complement our physicians. Our nurse practitioners are highly educated, board certified and well experienced with the pediatric population. The nurse practitioners work closely with your pediatric physician to meet your child’s needs.

We have a 24 hour triage service that provides prompt triage assistance for our parents and caregivers during office hours, after office hours and during the weekend for continuity. You can reach our triage nurses by dialing our main number: 480-609-8100 any time of day or night.  Also, most insurance companies have a help hotline or a nurse helpline.

We are happy to be able to offer Saturday hours for urgent care.  Visits are by appointment only at this time.  Saturday hours will vary by location.  Please call 480-609-8100 for same day sick visits.

Our group accepts most major insurance and PPO plans. Please call us for assistance with verification of your insurance plan acceptance.

Office Hours: Regular hours for scheduled well child and sick child visits are from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday with some of our physicians offering 7:30am appointments. Calls to schedule appointments can be made from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.  Our office does not close during the lunch hour.  We are happy to be able to offer Saturday hours for urgent care with the exception of June and July.  Visits are by appointment only at this time.  Saturday hours will vary by location.  Please call 480-609-8100 for same day sick visits.

What to bring to your appointment: You must bring a valid insurance card and your co-payment (if applicable) to each appointment. Also, please try to bring your child’s immunization record to any well check appointment. If you have new insurance and you have not yet received your insurance card, you will need the following information: insurance company name and phone number; claim address; co-payment amount; and policy holder name/date of birth/phone number, policy number, and suffix.

Well Checks: Please schedule well check appointments as early as possible to help ensure the availability of your Primary Care Physician.  July-September is a very busy time for well checks as everyone is preparing for the upcoming school year.  Please bring your child’s immunization record to all well check appointments.
Missed Appointments:  As a courtesy, we will give you a reminder call prior to your appointment. Effective June 1, 2008, failure to cancel your appointment within 24 hrs. of your scheduled appointment will result in a $25.00 “NO SHOW” fee.  Please contact our 24 hr. cancellation message line at 480-609-8102.

Please note: If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, we may have to reschedule you to a future date.

Pharmacy Refills: Please call your pharmacy to expedite all refills excluding controlled substances.  For controlled substances, leave a message on the medical assistant’s voicemail which you can access by calling the main phone number: 480-609-8100.

Message Results Line: The patient message line allows you to retrieve messages from your doctor regarding lab results, diagnostic results and referrals. You will be notified by phone once your message has been entered by your doctor and is ready to be retrieved, usually in 48 to 72 hours. If you are waiting for a referral, most referrals take 5 to 7 business days to process through your insurance.
